DRIFT EVENT RULES & REGULATIONS
(TECHNICAL INSPECTION SHEET AT END)

BASIC SAFETY & EQUIPMENT RULES:
1. Closed face helmet required:
a. SA2015 or SA2020 minimum rating required
b. Helmet must be less than 5 (five) years old based on Date of Manufacture
c. Helmet must be in good condition and show no signs of damage
d. Chin strap must be present and always fastened when wearing
2. Long pants, closed toe shoes, and sleeved shirts (no cut-offs) at minimum. Fire
suits and other supporting fire retardant racing equipment is a great investment.
3. Driver meetings are MANDATORY. If you do not attend the driver's meeting, you
will not be allowed on track.
4. When in grid or on track, driver should be alert, ready and focused
5. Slow idle speeds when driving through pits or non-track regions of the venue.
6. Drivers must always stay inside your vehicle while on track. This includes hands,
etc. Only exit your vehicle if it is actively on fire or you are directed to by staff.
7. Drivers are responsible for the actions of all passengers in their vehicle while on
track.
8. Drivers are responsible for the actions and behaviors of all crew members and
spectators that arrive with them or their party to the track.

ON TRACK & PIT RULES:
1. Any passenger must meet the same helmet and attire requirements as a driver.

2. Driver must pay very close attention to all flaggers and course workers. If any
staff instructions are ignored, the driver will be -at minimum -removed from the track for
the current session. If the offense is repeated or causes an extreme unsafe condition,
the driver will be ejected from the event entirely.
3. Be courteous on-track: 2 (two) spin outs or other major mistakes that slow down
the event and we ask that you exit the track for that run.
4. No intentional burnouts on-track; if you spin out or come to a stop simply
continue with the run. Burnouts damage the track surface!
5. Do not drift around any other spun driver. If another driver has stopped
movement, you are to safely drive around them before reinitiating drift.
6. Any staff guidance disregarded will result in expulsion from the event.
7. Use common sense as if you were driving on the road: watch for unsafe
situations, drive defensively and always be alert and aware of your surroundings and
other drivers
8. Disrespect of staff or track facilities will not be tolerated. This includes fighting,
littering, vandalism and intentional disruption of staff hosted meetings. Violation of this
rule will result in removal from the event and possible ban from future events.
9. Vehicles that break down or cause delay more than (2) times in one session will
be required to redo the tech inspection process and prove the issue has been fixed.
10. There is a strict zero tolerance alcohol policy for drivers. If you consume
drugs or alcohol while the track is hot you will be sidelined for the remainder of that
day's driving.

MANDATORY TECHNICAL INSPECTION:

Please do a technical mechanical inspection on your vehicle BEFORE the
event! We will be doing a tech inspection, but we expect you to be
prepared. If your car fails to meet any of the following requirements you
WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO DRIVE until those changes are made. Make
sure you can check all of the following boxes!!!

☐ Helmet – MAKE SURE YOU HAVE IT! SFI/Snell 2015 or newer is
recommended though DOT approved helmets will be permitted for
non-tandem drifting.
☐ Pants & Closed Toe Shoes – MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THEM! No
shorts or open-toe shoes are allowed while driving or riding in-car. Fire
retardant clothing/suits are recommended though not required. You never can be
too safe!!
☐ Fire extinguisher – all cars must have at least one fire extinguisher
that can be accessed by the driver.
☐ Loose Items – Ensure there are no loose items in the interior/trunk of
your vehicle.
☐ Floor Mats – Remove floor mats before tech inspection. These are
considered “loose items.”
☐ Lug Nuts – All lug nuts or lug bolts must be present.
☐ Seat Belts – Factory 3pt. or harnesses must be present and firmly
mounted.
☐ Throttle Return – The throttle cable must be well mounted and able to
extend/retract freely without any interruption.
☐ Steering Wheel – must be mounted properly and with all bolts
present. No play in the steering column, quick release, or any mounting
hardware can be present upon a firm grasp and left/right movement while
car is off.
☐ Seat – must be properly mounted and all bolts present.

☐ Gas Cap – must be present.
☐ Radiator Overflow – An overflow reservoir IS required. If you do not
have one, make sure you rig up a bottle of some sort to catch this fluid. You
cannot allow the fluid to expand and drip onto the track.
☐ NO MAJOR LEAKS! If we see your car leaking excessively we will
stop you from being on track. THIS IS SERIOUS!
☐ Brake Lights – must have at least two functioning brake lights on the
rear of the vehicle.
☐ Head Lights – for night driving you must have at least one
functioning headlight.
☐ Battery Tie Down & Terminals – The battery must have a solid
tie-down to hold it in place from vertical/horizontal movement. WRAP YOUR
BATTERY TERMINALS IN ELECTRICAL TAPE TO PREVENT ELECTRICAL
ARK IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT.
☐ Battery Box – If your battery is INSIDE THE CABIN you must either
have a dry-battery or have the wet-battery inside of a box. [This is to protect
the driver from being covered in battery acid in a worst case scenario.]
☐ Convertible Cars – MUST HAVE ROLL BAR TO PROTECT DRIVER IN
EVENT OF A ROLL-OVER.
☐ Seat – Driver’s seat must have all four mounts in use and have no
movement.
☐ Electrical Wiring – No bare/exposed wiring. Wrap it up folks. This is
how you prevent electrical fires.
☐ Wheel Bearings – Ensure you have no weak wheel bearings. [While
the car is in the air, grab the mounted wheel/tires setup on each corner at the 12
o’clock and 6 o’clock position and try to wiggle it in/out with your hands. If your
wheel has play in it, you need to replace those wheel bearings. A compromised
wheel bearing could result in a wheel failing or removing mid-drift. Wheels at high
wheel speeds can be extremely dangerous to the surrounding spectators.]

☐ Hubcaps/Beauty Rings – Absolutely no loose-mounted, press-on,
snapped-in style wheel finishes. These items, if dislodged, can hurt the
spectators who enjoy watching you drift. Let’s keep them safe!
☐ No accessory exterior mounted items. This means no bicycles, tire
racks, prop-items on the outside of the car. If it can be removed, just remove it
before the track goes hot. These items, if dislodged, can hurt the spectators who
enjoy watching you drift. Let’s keep them safe!

BY COMPLETING THE REGISTRATION YOU ARE AGREEING AND
UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE ABOVE. ANY VIOLATION OF RULES, OR
UNREPAIRABLE MAINTENANCE, AS REQUIRED BY OUR TECHNICAL
INSPECTION, WILL FORFEIT YOUR ENTRY FEE WITH NO REFUND. You
can fix it at the track and still drive, but we are telling you all of this in
advance so you can get it prepared and spend your track-day-time ON
TRACK.
